A Creepy Way to Get Traffic Using Project Wonderful
I like to spy on people. I like to watch people when they do not know I am watching.
.
…and that is creepy.
.
Sometimes, I am creepy (and quite often dirty as well). We all have our weird quirks, just most of us do not admit to them.

.
My little ‘I Spy‘ game doesn’t just work in the real world, it carries over to the web as well. If you make a blog then I am watching you when you don’t even know it. When I head to a blog, not only do I read the posts, I also read the source code. It’s like being a Peeping Tom on the web. When I visit a website, I try to learn as much as I can about the site, the writer, and the visitors. It’s what I do. I am always trying to learn from other people, and quite often people do not say what they are actually doing, or do what they are saying (is that the same thing twice just reversed?). As a child I wanted to be a detective, this led to a keen eye, and some great skills in observation.
.
So while I was lurking through the web I came across a great source of traffic. Well it’s not really a source of traffic, but it is a way to see how other people are directing traffic to their blogs. Generally you can only see where a blogs traffic is coming if the blogger shares his stats. Needless to say that when I came across this method I did a little happy dance. I am presently on Step 1: First you get the traffic, of the Scarface Blogging method.
.
I am all over any method to increase traffic to my blog like a [insert simile here].
.
So here is my shady, creepy, Peeping Tom method for increasing my traffic:
.
I have been playing around with Project Wonderful for a few days, getting to know the ins and outs of the system. Even though I have not made any money using it, I can see it’s potential. For those of you that are interested in learning more about it visit the website, I highly recommend checking it out. For those of you that have joined feel free to bid on the advertising space on my blog. It’s only at 10 cents right, and with my traffic rates exploding I don’t think that rate will last long.
.
Alright, plugging aside let’s get to the point- you want to be creepy like me and get some good traffic. The first thing you will want to do is click on the link near the top of the page that says “Your ad here, right now: $0.10″ You will not have to bid or buy anything unless you want to. This page shows some statistics about my blog, and if you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see a section called “Top Referrers to Living on Adsense.” This list shows the top places where I get traffic from. Right now my stats are not that inspirational, but if you visit a few other blogs that seem to be doing well for themselves and have a Project Wonderful ad, then click on it and check out where they are getting their traffic from.
.
From here you may need to do a little detective work, and try to figure out how they are getting traffic from these sources. With a little work though you may be able to uncover some really great places for traffic, and if you do, please share them with me!

This sounds great. Specially for sites like blogs, I guess. I wonder how this works for bigger sites, community-likes as DeviantArt for instance. If ONE ad wins the auction, so ONE ad will be all over the place. Wow… that can make the price go up… and up… and up.
Maybe it’s a good choice for a bigger site (as I’m planning to do :P)
