Getting Blog Traffic: No Longer a 12 Step Program
“On the Internet, you gotta get the traffic first. Then when you get the traffic, you the advertisers. Then when you get the advertisers, then you get the money.”
…is what I stated last week when I went on my traffic spree. My goals were very simple go from 20 uniques per day to 40 uniques per day with the intention of slowly working up to my main goal of 100 uniques per day. I have since made my goal, and I would like to share how I made such a staggering increase in a short amount of time. We all know that in order to make a blog successful you need to have a strong amount of traffic coming to your site. So if you want to blast some traffic to your blog try my simple three step program. Remember to do these items daily plus any regular things that you normally do to promote your blog.
1. When you create a new post make sure you Stumble it.
2. Head to Entrecard and drop off around 30 cards, and then use your EC to advertise your blog.
3. Go to Blog Catalog and add around 50 new friends (or more) and send out a broadcast discussing your new post (try to avoid the “check out my new post” type broadcasts)
This is the same simple method that I used to increase my traffic by 500% in 10 days. Although this is a great method for traffic generation, it may actually cause you to lose some earnings if you use Google Adsense to monetize your blog.

I’ve just tried out all of these technics on a blog that was started up on Sunday that really “went live” today. I’ll let you know how it goes. So far I’m seeing some decent traffic for not even being in the engines yet. The BlogCatalog is still registering my site but the Entrecard and the MyBlogLog have added about 30 uniques in 4 hours.

@Matt: Thanks for stopping by, and welcome to the team. Sorry I did not approve your comment earlier but for some reason it was marked as spam.
@MMA: When I started I was averaging 20 uniques per day, and now using the strategy above I am getting just over 100 uniques per day average. This is by no means huge, but a really great way to start. I look forward to hearing your results.

I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you.
