It Made Dirk Diggler a Porn Star, So Why Can’t it Make Me a Blogging Star?
It’s amazing how little time one has, even when one’s job is to just blog. Somehow I have less time than I did when I had a “real” job. Another problem is too many ideas, I swear I spend way too much time in my day just writing down ideas, and then I spend a ton of time gathering up the scrap pieces of paper that I have used to make various ideas lists and then trying to condense them into a single list. Of course over time I then have to condense the condensed lists.
It’s a non-stop cycle. Sometimes I wish that I never created this Adsense blog
So today as I am preparing to leave town for Easter I have decided to take on one of my list ideas before I leave. I know that I will not be able to post until next Tuesday, so I have to come up with something good to keep my blog “alive” until then.
One of my previous ideas was to use article writing as another source to bring in some traffic to your blog. The goal was to convert a blog post into an article. The theory behind it was that you already taken the time to write a blog post, so why not take the time to give it a quick revamp and submit it an article site. Well I got to thinking and I figured that I should take it one step further. I mean I don’t have enough time in the day to do what I want to do so I may as well keep adding items to my daily tasks.
So I came up with: as well as turning your post into an article, why not turn it into a video as well? So as well as turning this post into an article I have also turned it into a video post. After making my first video post, on the topic of turning posts into videos, I realize that it takes really no time at all to make the video. It was much faster than writing the article, plus I think it is easier to get ranked in the Youtube search engine than it is to get ranked in Google.
So to make the video all I did was take a shot of tequila to “loosen up” then I turned on the webcam and started to ramble about “turning blog posts into video posts.” I did it all in one take, and then I uploaded it to my Youtube account. If you do not want to have yourself on the web cam you could also use a screen capture program. There is a great free program called CamStudio that you can download to make pretty good screen captures. After you have made the video and have uploaded it to Youtube make sure you link back to the blog post it is referencing so that people can check out your blog after the video.
Also take the time to set up your Youtube channel to match your blog and then watch a few other videos on the same topic and make some relevant comments.
I’m pretty excited about making videos, and hopefully it will be a great source of traffic for my blog. I am sure that there are some plugins somewhere to make a seamless blogging/Youtube experience, but I haven’t found them yet!

There are so many great ideas on how to get some extra traffic to your site. Some are to get your topic on diggs page, then all of digg will see your site. Others are Videos on youtube, all the way to linkshares and forums. There are so many things for a novice blogger to take in.
There are many new bloggers out there. I letting people walk through it with me by posting tutorials and keeping my readers informed on what I do throughout the process.
Wade’s last blog post..How do I increase traffic

I have uploaded a video to youtube to try to bring some more traffic to my blog- specifically about horse anaesthesia. I figured I’d have some pretty interesting videos for people (considering my niche) if I can just remember to take them. Can’t say I’ve seen a big effect yet, maybe the video just wasn’t interesting enough.

Huh. I know I blog as part of a site I run with some friends, and one of them is trying this. You’ll have to keep us posted on how this pans out.
Right now he is just doing a video-blog, all he does is talk about his day, and anything he’s got going on with the site. Its rather boring, but I find it nice to listen to while I’m eating lunch at work (I’m no where near willing to make the jump to quiting my dayjob).
Another thing we’re looking into doing, and have been talking about for a while now is doing a weekly podcast. We figure it’ll be even easier to do than a video blog, since we can get a good bit of time out of just getting together and talking about whatever we feel like. The only problem there is that we don’t have way to draw attention to the site like youtube will, but I’ve been considering alternatives.
Namely, that alternative is to post the podcast on youtube. Our goal is around 30-60 minutes a week of us getting together and talking, and I figure I can cut that down to around 12-15 minutes of “highlights” and add something in the background. I haven’t figured out what yet, but I may either do screen captures of me doing some kind of work, or I may just steal the visualization from a media player and slap our audio over it so that its a video.
