Learn To Make a Blog: Big Wille Style

fresh prince blogs Now normally I get my blogging inspiration from movies, and judging by my the title, you may think that I have drawn today’s post from “Boogie Nights” with Mark Wahlberg.

Well today is different. Today I am inspired by music. The music of Will Smith has really given me some great inspiration in blogging. I am not talking about the content of his music, but more so what he raps about. He raps about himself and his life. He may do it so much anymore, but when he got his start he basically told stories about his life. His TV show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” was basically about his life as a kid from west Philadelphia that was transplanted to Beverly Hills.

So where am I going with this?

Well despite the fact that in my post from Friday someone made a comment that stated:“Nobody really wants to read the adsense highs & lows of your life besides a few that are dealing with the same stuff”

And that is absolutely true. Even thought the comment seemed to have a negative tone to it, it is true. Luckily the people that come to my blog are interested in my blogging highs and lows because they are in the same boat as me. They are new bloggers that are looking for inspiration, for ideas and for help. I write this blog from my personal experiences. I don’t just go out and read something on another blog and then just repost it here in my own words. I live it, then I blog it. I am quite happy that nobody really wants to read the adsense highs & lows of my life besides a few that are dealing with the same stuff because those are the people I am writing for.

Just like Will Smith.

When he started his career, he rapped about his life, and issues that his target audience could relate to, and he became a huge success at doing so. Sure not everybody liked Will Smiths music, and that was fine because he was targeting people that were dealing with issues similar to his. The same with Living on Adsense, this blog his geared towards people that are new bloggers trying to make a few dollars from blogging.

I just try to help and teach people in a more enjoyable format instead of the standard blog post that gives some great ideas about blogging, but they have not been personally tested by the writer. These bloggers usually write like they are writing instructions on building a model airplane. It’s technical, it’s boring, and the only way to enjoy it is with a bottle of model glue beside your nose (that brings back some fond memories).

People that share a common interest with you will be interested in hearing your story, your experiences in your chosen topic. So for those of you that want to make a blog but do not know what to blog about, start off by blogging about yourself and your life. People will tell you that “nobody wants to read your blog,” but that is entirely untrue. People that share the same interests as you WILL be interested in reading your blog. So take that leap and make a blog, and share your stories and life experiences with the world.

Write for yourself first, and don’t worry about the “negative nancies” out their!

Off topic, but did I miss something? Where are your adsense ads?

mike’s last blog post..Time To Elope

[Reply]

@Mike: I was planning a post to cover this but…

I have removed the adsense ads from this site becuase nobody clicks on them and that my brings my CTR way down, and as such I believe that I have been smartpriced. My goal is to get my CTR up on my other blogs in order to become unsmartpriced and hopefully make some more money with adsense.

…and to boot google has dropped my PR from 3 to 0, apparently I have done something wrong

[Reply]

@mike: I noticed that also, but I’ve seen him talking about taking off the ads from some of his sites (although he didnt mention WHICH sites).

And no reason for the 3->0 fall? …

Ren B’s last blog post..Jacques Resch

@Ren B: My spidey senses (and research) tell my that the PayPerPost is the reason for the drop. I made my first post on the 21st, and then google drops me 4 days later.

That wasn’t a Google Slap, that was a Google Tiger Uppercut.

You totally missed the point of what I was trying to say. You only focused on the first part of it and not the other where I explained what the problem with it was.

“Nobody really wants to read the adsense highs & lows of your life besides a few that are dealing with the same stuff. And they aren’t really going to click the ads and make you the big bucks.

Then you agreed with it when you said “I have removed the adsense ads from this site becuase nobody clicks on them“.

We are talking about you trying to make a living off a single blog about your experiences with trying to make money off your blog, meant to appeal to a group of people that by their very nature are usually not the type that clicks ads unless they are handing out ‘pity clicks’.

We are not talking about you sharing your experiences about doll collecting with fellow doll collectors on a blog with ads for dolls. That would probably work. Doll collectors can’t resist dolls. They will not only click the doll ads, they will probably buy too.

But ad people just like yourself, don’t really click ads. You know this. You have seen it. You already have the proof that what I am saying is true.

I wasn’t trying to be negative. I was trying to steer you into a more positive direction by showing you the reality of what is going on. You can either understand and respond, or you can go do what your girlfriend said, go make someone else rich off your labor while only receiving a small portion of what your work is really worth. (aka a day job)

Please do share stories about your personal experiences. Don’t stop! But create a few more blogs to share other various experiences that have nothing to do with making money off of ads on this site. Doing that will give you more to write about here, too.

I told you I have lots of sites & blogs with all kinds of topics. 20 years worth of marriage and being a stay at home housewife and mother has given me a broad range of topics to write about, including all the stupid things my husband does. I started a blog just for stupid husband stories.

I have another where I am attempting to record my thoughts, feelings, and experiences from my childhood. I also am an artist, and have an art site where I give away desktop wallpapers & stuff.

I am also a donationware developer of small desktop utilities.

Another blog I have is going to eventually be 20 years worth of things I have cooked for my family, with actual photos of the food taken by my daughter.

My whole life will be online, on a million blogs and websites, by the time I am finished. And all of them with ads. I am monetizing my life! I am just short of having adsense code installed on my actual living body. :-D

My point was not to limit yourself. If all you are about and all you have to share with the world is your experiences with trying to make money off this blog, then ok…forget any of what I just said. But if there is more to you than that, get busy & get serious about it, and make some more blogs. Start writing enough for it to be a full time job.
