The Living on Adsense Blog: The Name is Just a Metaphor?
I get a lot of comments and questions from people asking me why a “Living on Adsense Blog” does not have any Adsense ads anywhere on the pages. I used to have Adsense ads, this used to be a true adsense blog. Now it is just a metaphor.
I keep my Adsense ads on my other blogs, as those are much more successful at attracting clicks than this blog. The info I share here is based on the knowledge I have gained from my other blogs.
I have found that people that come to my blog, know exactly what Adsense is (the title is “Living on Adsense”), they ignore the ads and do not click. This ruins my CTR, and quite possibly “Smart Prices” my Adsense account(if the concept even exists). The fact is, your Adsense blog will not do very well if your readers are technical people that know what adsense is. They just won’t click on the links. My personal opinion is that Google has trained us not click on our own ads and as such we have stopped clicking on ads altogether.
Who knows maybe I will make this a true Adsense blog and add some of the ads back in the blog. If I do I will need to ad them in a place where web savvy individuals like yourselves will still click on them. I just want to ensure that they are not on the main page, because I have been getting a lot of Entrecard visitors, and they will definitely ruin my CTR rate. Fo Sho.
I was thinking about adding the code to the box beside the posts with the “Latest”, “Popular”, and “Sections” tabs. It’s just that I cannot figure out how to ad a the code when I create a new tab, actually I think I have trouble creating a new tab altogether.
I will probably break down and reapply another coat of Adsense to my blog. It’s just that I get nervous about ruining my CTR and I expect instant results. That’s just the way I roll, if it doesn’t work in one day why would it work over a few days? Maybe it’s just me but that’s how it works in my brain.
Anyways, from all the peer pressure I will more than likely make this a true Adsense blog again.
Well see what happens.

Before I started blogging I toyed around with Adsense and completely avoided using channels to track my earnings (of now I have too many channels to keep track of). I completely agree with keeping up with the channels. I have a few Adsense blocks out in “web limbo” that are randomly bringing in a few dollars per click…AND I CAN’T FIND THEM!!!
The images are the best part of my blogging day. If I could make my point with pictures (like a caveman) I would!

Just DON’T let a post of yours go online without a picture you’ve manip. Gosh, your captions are funny as hell. haha

Remember to choose channels correctly so you can really scale what is going on on *this* blog. If the CTR drops, well, drop AdSense again (here).
And I have to admit that you have the greatest images and captions for your subject.
